Fast forward to the 19th century, and due to the similarity in the words and no doubt some early genius marketing, the piggy bank was born. However, history teaches us that back in the 15th century, people used to store any money they had in pots made from an affordable clay called pygg. Piggy Banks are one of those things that we all know exist and what they are for, but we have never given a second thought as to how they originated.
